Position Description: The primary function of the dump truck driver is to drive a tri axle or lead dump truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 GVW to haul equipment and/or materials. This is a non-exempt, full-time position reporting to the Department Manager.
Transport equipment and/or materials from point of pickup to point of disposal in a safe and efficient manner while following all safety protocols.
Work on construction sites as needed in various capacities.
Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicles service and repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
Work with Dispatch to calculate the most efficient and effective route.
Inform Dispatch and Safety of any DOT fines, citations, or any other relevant issues.
Communicate with Dispatch regarding any potential customer issues such as complaints, spills, leaks, incidents, accidents, injuries, and vehicle issues.
Communicate vehicle issues and vehicle needs to maintenance immediately.
Able to be exposure to dust, fumes, high and low temperatures, slippery surfaces, low-lit work areas, heavy traffic, and high noise levels.
Able to be required to drive in hazardous conditions, including weather, tight quarters, and inner-city locations.
Compliance with all DOT, company and safety policies, procedures and practices are required at all times.
Keep truck clean and orderly at all times.
Ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles in various road conditions throughout Michigan and surrounding states.
Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, checking that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
Responsible for general maintenance of truck, including but not limited to: checking oil and fuel levels.
Complete all pre-trip requirements before each truck run and post-trip requirement at the end of each shift.
Able to push and pull 146 pounds, lift 50 pounds and climb ladder with 3 rungs regularly throughout shift.
Able to handle high stress situations and frequent interruptions.
Demonstrate professionalism; be courteous and friendly to customers and co-workers at all times.
Regular and reliable attendance and presence at work.
Regular interaction with peers on-site, including face-to-face meetings and spontaneous conferences.
Operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Follow company quality, safety and environmental guidelines as well as employee handbook policies.
Pass pre-employment DOT physical, drug screen, Clearinghouse verification and 7-year background check.
