Overview:
Our client is seeking a highly independent and driven Director of Business Development to lead regional expansion efforts and drive new business in the Rochester, NY market. This is a key leadership role ideal for a true hunter—someone who thrives on creating new opportunities and scaling new territories.
This position involves both strategic sales leadership and hands-on business development. The successful candidate will be responsible for growing a book of business, managing a team that includes sales and accounting professionals, and earning commission from both their own efforts and team performance.
- Lead the business development strategy to grow market presence in the Rochester region and surrounding areas
- Personally engage in outbound sales, networking, and opportunity development to drive new revenue
- Manage and mentor a team of sales and support staff to maximize group performance
- Identify target accounts and deliver compelling solutions aligned with client needs
- Collaborate with internal departments (operations, onboarding, marketing) to ensure seamless implementation
- Ensure accurate sales reporting and CRM (Salesforce) compliance
- Highly independent and self-motivated with a strong entrepreneurial mindset
- Demonstrated experience in building or expanding a new geographic territory (slam dunk!)
- 5+ years of B2B sales experience in a service-based industry- Proven team leadership experience with a track record of coaching and driving results
- CRM-savvy, with tools like Salesforce, LinkedIn, and ZoomInfo
- Excellent communication, presentation, and closing skills
