We are seeking a strategic and experienced leader to oversee the organisation’s Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) program and broader financial governance framework. This role is critical to ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and the integrity of our financial reporting processes.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive financial governance framework aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Design and implement policies and procedures to mitigate risk and enhance business process efficiency
- Internal Controls Management
- Lead the ICFR program, including annual scoping, risk assessments, and control evaluations
- Develop the ICFR annual plan, including testing strategy and design effectiveness assessments
- Regularly review and update internal control documentation (risk assessments, control matrices, process narratives)
- Oversee the implementation and effectiveness of internal control systems
- Audit Coordination & Compliance
- Coordinate and review testing conducted by Internal Audit and/or external resources
- Establish follow-up mechanisms to monitor the implementation of action items
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and standards, including Bill 198 (NI 52-109) or equivalent frameworks (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley)
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on the internal control environment
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits and interim reviews
- Maintain a collaborative and constructive relationship with external auditors to align risk assessments and maximise efficiency
- Continuous Improvement & Advisory
- Identify and propose solutions for control improvement opportunities
- Optimise the control environment through strategic enhancements
- Provide expert advice on internal control best practices
- Communicate control changes and requirements to relevant stakeholders
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field, preferably Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- CPA, CIA, CISA, or equivalent professional designation.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Internal Audit and/or Internal Controls.
- Strong proficiency in ICFR frameworks (e.g., NI 52-109, SOX).
- Experience working within a publicly traded company.
- Industry experience in mining, extractive, or heavy industry strongly preferred.
- Strategic and consultative mindset with the ability to build credibility as a trusted business partner to site leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to add value through solution-oriented thinking and operational insight.
- Organized, intuitive, and collaborative problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced environments and is comfortable diving into the details.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

The annual salary range for this position is $175,000 - $220,000. This range is a guide and final compensation for this position will be determined based on the candidate's unique skills, expertise, individual qualifications, and assessed contributions to the role following the completion of the interview process.
