We are looking for a Director, Human Resources to join our Centerra Corporate team who will be accountable for shaping and executing the company’s human resources strategy across corporate functions and global mining operations. This position is a hybrid role based at our Toronto, ON office.
This position ensures HR programs are aligned with business objectives, operational priorities, and compliance requirements in multiple jurisdictions. The Director provides strategic oversight to the Senior Advisor, Employee Experience & Development (EEx), HR Business Partner & Payroll functions, guiding their teams to deliver consistent, high-quality services to both corporate and site locations. Acting as a trusted advisor to the VP, HR, this role drives innovation and initiatives in workforce planning, organizational design, leadership development, and change management to support business growth, site expansions, and operational excellence.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Provide strategic leadership to Senior Human Resources Business Partner & teams that provide support to the corporate office and remote sites, ensuring coordinated & effective delivery of HR programs and services.
- Work with the VP, HR to lead the design, development, and implementation of HR strategies that align with organizational goals and operational priorities across corporate and site locations.
- Advise the VP, HR on organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and change management initiatives.
- Oversee teams are in compliance with federal, provincial, and state employment legislation, as well as internal policies and collective agreements where applicable.
- Monitor and analyze HR metrics, dashboards, and reports to identify trends, measure program effectiveness, and guide decision-making.
- Represent HR in cross-functional leadership teams and special projects to support business growth, operational efficiency, and site readiness for expansions and restarts.
- Compile and analyze data as required for HRC & Board meetings; prepare presentations as requested.
- Through the Senior HRBP & Senior Advisor, EEx & Development, oversee the annual Talent Management, AIP and Performance Management processes to ensure successful global execution.
- Oversee the annual HR budget and workforce planning cycles, supporting organizational strategy.
- Provide strategic leadership to the Employee Experience & Development team. Champion a culture of continuous improvement, employee engagement, and leadership excellence.
- Oversee the Employee Experience team in designing and implementing global EEx programs, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy while balancing site local requirements.
- Overall responsibility for all HR systems; ensure audit compliance on workflows and processes.
- Lead role on any future system implementations.
- Manage the global compensation frameworks, ensuring global adherence for consistency and internal equity. Ensure regular market analysis and benchmarking to ensure competitiveness in attracting and retaining global talent.
- Manage the annual compensation cycle; provide input and recommendations for promotions and new hire compensation.
- Liaise with Benefits Brokers and external plan providers, consultants and other contacts on benefits; monitor industry trends to identify and recommend opportunities for innovative, cost-effective change.
- Responsibility for accurate and effective delivery of North American payroll functions.
- Coach and mentor HR team members to build future leadership capability.
- Ensure cohesion amongst HR team and high-quality, consistent service.
The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or related field.
- CHRL/CHRE designation preferred.
- 15+ years’ progressive HR experience, with at least 8 years managing teams; previous mining experience strongly preferred.- Knowledge of Canadian/Provincial employment law required; knowledge of US/State employment law considered an asset.
- Proven track record in leadership, change and communication management.
- Experience with SuccessFactors & ADP considered an asset; experience with Bridge LMS also an asset.
- Exceptional communication, relationship and collaboration skills. Strategic thinker; continuous improvement mindset.
