Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Haul Diesel Mechanic to join our team at the Williamsport location. This position is responsible for performing maintenance, service, and repairs on heavy haul trucks and specialized trailers. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to respond to road calls when equipment requires service outside the shop.
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy haul trucks and trailers, including engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and DOT compliance checks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Complete service records, repair logs, and documentation per company procedures.
- Conduct road calls and provide on-site repairs when needed to support drivers in the field.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company safety standards.
- Collaborate with drivers, supervisors, and other mechanics to ensure fleet reliability and readiness.
- Stay current on new technologies, tools, and repair practices relevant to heavy haul equipment.
- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic; heavy haul and trailer experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, drivetrains, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and safety compliance standards.
- Ability to diagnose and repair issues independently and accurately.
- Willingness to perform road calls as required.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Must provide own basic tools (specialty tools provided by the company).
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift and move heavy parts, tools, and equipment.
- Comfortable working in shop environments and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Capable of standing, bending, and working in physically demanding positions for extended periods.
