Greenfire is seeking a skilled Development Engineer to lead the early-stage planning and evaluation of pad and facility projects for our Demo and Hangingstone Expansion assets. This role requires a broad engineering background and involves cross-functional collaboration to assess technical feasibility, drive project approvals, and support long-term asset development strategies.
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
· Lead the development of new pads and facilities projects from concept through execution, aligning stakeholder input, evaluating process designs, and performing economic assessments.
· Evaluate opportunities to enhance existing operations through facility debottlenecking or support growth through pad and central processing facility expansions.
· Manage early-stage project development and guide projects through Greenfire’s gated approval process.
· Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define project scope, design parameters, timelines, and resource requirements.
· Conduct detailed technical and economic evaluations, including capital estimates and production forecasts.
· Present project justifications and recommendations clearly and confidently to senior leadership.
· Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies by fostering relationships with external partners and industry experts.
· Contribute to capital planning and budgeting, offering insights for optimizing asset performance and supporting long-term strategic goals.
· Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and active membership with APEGA.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in the Canadian oil and gas industry, specifically within in-situ thermal oil sands operations.
· Strong technical engineering background, with experience in Development Engineering or closely related disciplines such as Process, Production, Drilling & Completions, or Facilities Engineering.
· Proven ability to analyze and synthesize technical and economic data to support decision-making.
· Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
· Demonstrated experience in leading projects in multidisciplinary environments.
