Department: Engineering Reports To: Project Manager Job Summary: Piping Technology & Products, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Design Engineer.
This is a full-time, on-site, salaried, exempt position. Our corporate office is located at 3701 Holmes Road, Houston, TX 77051. Candidates should ensure that they are within a commutable distance to our facility before applying.
This role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Role Overview The Design Engineer role is responsible for the design, development, and improvement of products and systems used in piping applications. This role involves creating detailed drawings and models, performing engineering calculations, ensuring compliance with codes and standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
● Perform engineering calculations to ensure designs meet safety, performance, and code requirements (e.g., ASME, ANSI)
● Prepare design documentation, technical specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOM)
● Collaborate with project managers, sales, procurement, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective
● Participate in product development from concept through production release
● Support manufacturing and quality assurance by troubleshooting design-related issues ● Review and revise existing designs for improvement or cost savings
● Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, customer specifications, and internal standards
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills● Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
● 5+ years of design experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment (internships may count)
● Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.)
● Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and industry codes (e.g., ASME B31.1/B31.3)
● Familiarity with piping systems, supports, and components preferred
● Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a team-oriented environment Preferred Skills
● Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools
● PE certification or EIT status is a plus Work Environment
● Office-based with occasional visits to the shop floor or client sites
● Standard working hours with potential for overtime based on project deadlines
