WHAT YOU'LL DO AS A
DEMAND AND LOGISTICS ANALYST
(Planning)
Located on our beautiful corporate campus in Louisville (KY), The Planning Analyst is a key member of the Planning team and reports to the OM & Inventory Leader. This role will have a specific focus on import coil procurement and logistics management. In addition to these primary responsibilities this role will also support other Planning processes such as Customer Demand Analyst for end uses assigned. This role will provide effective and accurate analysis of customer order fulfillment via import coil, capacity and lead time planning, freight costs, expenditures, and on-time delivery performance. This role will analyze logistics performance, recommending process improvements and publish freight data to the organization. This role requires attention to detail, proactive monitoring of the flow of goods, and ability to communicate effectively with internal and external partners (vendors, freight forwarders, ocean carriers, etc.) to execute the business requirements.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Logistics•Analyze freight processes and recommend improvements to transportation and warehouse operations that will reduce lead time and/or cost.
•Calculate freight cost for monthly budget forecast to TAA Finance team as well as annual budget and Long-Range Plan for both import and domestic locations.
•Deliver to TAA Commercial Department actual monthly freight costs along with quarterly freight forecasts to support customer reconciliations and billing.
•Evaluate coils stored in outside warehouse locations and submit monthly reporting to accounting to ensure proper insurance coverage in place.
•Manage P2P updates in Oracle and testing alongside TAA IT
•Assess “in transit” value of goods for import coil & provide to accounting and logistics management each month.
•Maintain reporting tools which include vendor shipment and freight cost details.
•Support Logan Aluminum on freight claims as needed
Import Coil Procurement Program
•Collaborate with suppliers, freight forwarder(s) and carriers to make sure import coil shipments are booked and shipped timely, and in the most cost-efficient method.
•Analyze Commercial sales requirements (including Long Range Plan) and recommend strategies to optimize order fulfillment via import coil
•Communicate with suppliers to discuss TAA sales forecast, supplier capacities, and estimated freight cost and lead times.
•Facilitate resolution of transportation and logistics issues related to imports/exports, claims or customers through direct communications with carriers, warehouses, freight forwarders and/or insurance representatives.
•Audit exemption status customer exemptions for import coils and utilize exception reporting to take proactive action as needed to ensure the timely delivery of import coil shipments to meet customer demand.
•Forecast import inventory to stay in line with company performance targets
•Ensure that all required documents and systems updates are processed in a timely manner for import coil. Address any issues quickly to minimize impact to customers
•Manage import exemption status and work with logistics partners to ensure compliance, resolving discrepancies as needed
•Work with dray carrier daily for container drop-hook practice and ensure containers are pulled and returned timely to avoid demurrage and detention fees.
•Collaborate with different functional areas to ensure accuracy of import inventory into Oracle.
Demand Analysis
•Analyze monthly customer Bare Tab orders and submit volumes to manufacturing partners, providing support through manufacturing and delivery
•Forecast Bare Tab sales volumes, staying aligned with production capacities and inventory targets
•Support demand planning processes and systems to improve forecasting by accurately completing ad-hoc and bi-monthly Sales Planning Forecast (SPF)
What You'll Bring
•Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation Management
•Advanced level of proficiency in Excel
•Knowledge of Oracle (preferred)
•1-2 years of experience working with ocean carriers, freight forwarders/consolidators a plus
