The Deli Manager/Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the deli department, primarily during evening shifts, but also available for day and weekend shifts as needed. This role ensures high-quality customer service, manages staff, and maintains food safety standards. The Deli Manager/Assistant Manager will also assist the Store Manager in training and mentoring employees, maintaining store appearance and ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures.
The primary shift is from 2:00pm-10:00pm Monday-Friday and every other weekend. Specific schedules will be discussed during the interview and upon offer.
- Oversee the deli department during night and weekend shifts.
- Ensure high-quality customer service and address customer inquiries and complaints.
- Supervise and train deli team members, assign tasks, and ensure adequate coverage.
- Prepare deli items such as sandwiches, salads, pizza, and hot foods.
- Maintain attractive and well-stocked deli displays, monitor product freshness, quality, and presentation.
- Follow health and safety guidelines to prevent cross-contamination.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and communicate supply issues with the Store Manager.
- Minimize waste and shrinkage, adhere to food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
- Complete required paperwork, including temperature logs and cleaning checklists.
- Operate cash registers, handle payments, and maintain accurate records.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Provide leadership and direction in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Assist the Store Manager in training and mentoring new and current employees.
- Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
· Ability to process information/merchandise through computer or POS register system.
· Ability to read, count, and write accurately to complete all documentation.
· Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
· Ability to operate, use, and properly care for all store equipment.
· Ability to lift, handle, or move merchandise throughout the store generally weighing up to 50lbs.
· Ability to work as a team and independently with minimal supervision, self-motivated.

- Previous experience in a retail environment, either as a cashier or in sales.
- Previous general clerical experience or training.
- Exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task.
- Previous experience leading, coaching, and mentoring others.
· Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
· Ability to bend/stoop/squat frequently and occasionally for extended periods of time.
