We are seeking a highly reputable and experienced Deck Captain who can lead and manage our team. Overview
The Deck Captain's primary responsibility is the care and custody of all crew and equipment and the safe and efficient execution of all job-related activities.
Essential functions (This is not all-inclusive)
•Upholds the Company’s commitment to an injury-free workplace; leads and models safe work practices
•Follows all safety rules and regulations as well as all company policies and procedures
•Works safely around machinery; observes and instructs others in proper equipment use; uses/wears all required PPE
•Ensures team members are provided a safe work environment and are knowledgeable of safe work practices and policies
•Reviews equipment logs, deficiency logs, maintenance logs, and leverman logs and performs follow-up inspections on a daily basis and notes results in appropriate safety inspection form and maintenance logs
•Assists in the planning and safe, efficient execution of all moves under the captains’ supervision
•Supervises the performance of the dredge, the crew, and the equipment to achieve maximum efficiency on both shifts
•Assists with inventory and ordering all supplies and spare parts along with housekeeping of equipment
•Assumes the duties of the captain in his absence
•Performs duties as the safety director and is responsible for the safety of his crew and equipment
•Assists the captain and the chief with planning and overseeing of repairs and maintenance
•Works directly with the chief, the captain, and the equipment manager to properly and efficiently make needed repairs and maintenance
•Performs other duties as assigned by the dredge captain
Minimum Qualifications
•High school diploma or equivalent
•Three or more years of Deck Captain experience
•Excellent safety and mechanical skills
•Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position as outlined in the Functional Job Description
•Must be able to successfully pass all pre-employment screening (drug test, fit test) in addition to random drug and alcohol testing

The work schedule is rotating 2 weeks on and 1 week off with an average of 12 hours per day.
