As a Data Architect , you will play a critical role in enabling our enterprise-wide digital strategy by designing scalable, secure, and efficient data platforms that fuel innovation, increase operational efficiency, and drive smarter decision-making across our midstream, refining, and marketing businesses.
This is more than a technical role—it's an opportunity to shape the foundation for advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI across one of the most complex energy value chains in the world.
Responsibilities May Include:
Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade data architectures supporting refining, logistics, commercial, and corporate operations.
Partner with data engineers, analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to develop robust data pipelines, models, and integration frameworks.
Architect solutions across cloud (e.g., AWS, Azure) and hybrid environments using best-in-class technologies and Phillips 66 standards.
Define and implement data modeling standards for structured, semi-structured, and time-series data—especially historian and SCADA systems.
Ensure high data quality, lineage, and governance across the lifecycle of critical datasets.
Support the creation of scalable data lakes and data warehouses that enable advanced analytics, reporting, and ML model development.
Guide the adoption of metadata management tools, cataloging platforms, and data observability frameworks.
Define reference architectures and reusable patterns to accelerate delivery across teams.
Influence the organization’s data strategy, including platform modernization, master data, and integration with OT/IT systems.
Required Qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
8 or more years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise IT—ideally in energy, manufacturing, or logistics
Hands-on experience designing data platforms using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (Azure experience preferred)
Expertise in designing modern data pipelines using tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, Spark, Airflow, or Informatica
Strong knowledge of data warehousing, data lakes, lakehouse architectures, and hybrid cloud environments
Familiarity with industrial data systems such as OSIsoft PI, SCADA, and DCS
Proficiency in data modeling (dimensional, relational, NoSQL), ETL/ELT, and schema design
Experience working with large-scale time-series data and real-time data streaming (Kafka, Kinesis, etc.)
Knowledge of master data management, data governance, and compliance frameworks
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the oil & gas industry, particularly in refining, midstream logistics, or commercial trading
Familiarity with data mesh concepts and distributed data ownership frameworks
Experience integrating ERP systems (e.g., SAP), enterprise asset management (e.g., Maximo), and field operations data
Background in enabling ML/AI platforms by designing feature stores, model input/output pipelines, or metadata stores
Understanding of cybersecurity, access control, and regulatory data compliance in industrial environments
