Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Engineer to join our team at Carroll Daniel. The Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and infrastructure to support analytics, reporting, and decision-making across project management, procurement, finance, and field operations. The Data Engineer will be an integral part of the team that forms the backbone of our data infrastructure. Their work will empower field crews, project managers, estimators, and executives with real-time insights into project health, cost performance, and operational efficiency. This is a strategic role that bridges IT, operations, and field execution, turning fragmented construction data into actionable intelligence. They will report directly to the Technology Director but should be highly comfortable with frequent cross-department collaboration on deliverables.
Process-Related Responsibilities
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for integrating data from CRM software (e.g., Salesforce), project management tools (e.g., Procore), scheduling systems (e.g., Oracle P6, Microsoft Projects), financial systems (e.g., Procore, CMiC), HR systems (Paycom), and other enterprise software.
• Build and optimize data pipelines and data models to support construction analytics dashboards and reports.
• Collaborate with project managers, finance teams, and field staff to understand data needs and provide solutions that improve operational efficiency.
• Develop data warehousing solutions using tools such as Snowflake, Redshift, Azure Synapse, etc.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security across systems and projects.
• Implement data governance practices and help develop data documentation and standards.
• Work with BI teams to support dashboard development using Power BI.
• Support predictive analytics and forecasting models related to budgets, project performance, timelines, equipment usage, and subcontractor performance.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues and ensure high system reliability.
• Assist with data categorization and security
Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• In-office position, reporting to the Main Office in Gainesville, GA, with a work-from-home option one day a week in the future.
• Most of the work for this position is in an office setting, with intermittent sitting, standing, and walking.
• On rare occasions, travel to construction jobsites.
• Short travel periods may sometimes be required to various remote offices, mostly in Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Analytics, BI/BA, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role (internships included).
• 2 years of PowerBI experience
• Proficiency in SQL and Python; experience with data orchestration tools such as Airflow or dbt.
• Experience with Azure and other Microsoft tools
• Experience with APIs and integrating construction management software is a plus.
• Knowledge of data modeling, warehousing concepts, and best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
• Demonstrates excellent time management skills and the ability to self-manage.
• Knowledge of construction project lifecycle/ processes is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of industry-standard systems (Procore, BIM 360, Bluebeam, CMiC, Viewpoint) is a plus.
