This is a hands-on technical role that requires the ability to self-direct and lead efforts in producing actionable intelligence products that enhance the security of the energy sector.
This position offers the opportunity to work alongside personnel from various private energy companies, national laboratories, and U.S. government agencies in a cybersecurity threat analysis center focused on risks to IT and OT environments. The role is onsite at the Department of Energy’s Energy Threat Analysis Center in Golden, CO.
By collaborating daily with cross-functional experts and utilizing diverse datasets, you will help shape the future of collective cyber defense. This position involves pioneering efforts to prepare for and respond to cyber threats that could jeopardize the reliability of U.S. energy systems.
- Be physically present to collaborate with other companies and government personnel in a shared space equipped with both classified and unclassified capabilities.
- Serve as a conduit for investigative exchanges, starting with internal company Security Operations Center (SOC) data and processes, and expanding outward to correlate with findings from partner organizations.
- Develop threat hunting and detection campaigns in collaboration with partner organizations and internal SOC personnel.
- Contribute specialized knowledge to collaborative response efforts based on cyber incidents.
- Communicate findings to a diverse audience, including executive leadership.
- Assist leadership in transforming pilot activities into repeatable, sustainable, and scalable programs, systems, and initiatives.
- Maintain knowledge of cybersecurity for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and other operational systems used in the energy sector.
- Have or be capable of obtaining a U.S. Government Top Secret clearance.
- BA/BS in computer science, technology, engineering or security-related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant professional security experience, or five (5) years with Master’s degree
- Conversancy with nation state and supply chain threats
- Ability to write high-quality intelligence assessments and briefings for a senior-level audience and technical audiences
- Demonstrated effective team leadership skills
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks with nominal oversight
- Experience with threat hunting or detection engineering in a SOC environment
- Demonstrable experience working across the cyber security community
- Must be willing to travel periodically as required by job duties
