With customers' expectations evolving as part of the ever-changing technological landscape, the Customer Support Applications
team is seeking a dynamic and driven change leader for a full-time opportunity as a Customer Experience Applications Solution
Architect. This individual will provide leadership and recommendations as Manitoba Hydro becomes more customer-centric in
serving over 600,000 customers province wide.
As a key member of the applications team supporting customer solutions & experience, you will be responsible for the solution
architecture of the software solutions primarily within the domain of customer information solutions and systems. You will provide
leadership in the areas of software/solution design and architecture, application modernization, and application integration, and will
participate in the planning, design and implementation of software systems and solutions. You will work closely with the Solution
Architects and Leads in the Enterprise Information Systems Department, plus collaborate closely with various departments within
Digital & Technology (D&T), in particular, Enterprise Architecture, to model, recommend, and approve solution architectures, along
with identifying opportunities to improve existing architecture components. Additionally, you will combine enterprise, business, data
and technology architectures with D&T and Business strategies to achieve optimal outcomes.
This position is suited for an individual who has the ability to work both independently and in teams, has excellent communication
skills, is well organized, technology-savvy, quick to learn, and is familiar with Customer solution architecture (people, process, data,
applications, and technology) in order to define and recommend optimal solutions.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand their strategic goals and formulate holistic plans to enable business capabilities,
- Utilize modern solution architecture tools and methodologies to model, and analyze business processes, users-system
- Participate in the system study phase including the project proposal, the definition of user requirements, development of
alternatives, technical evaluation, and cost benefit analysis of alternatives and present recommendations.
- Collaborate with Enterprise and Solution Architects to develop and maintain reference architectures for software solutions,
documenting as-built architectures and standards and ensure development and integration projects are aligned with
enterprise architecture principles and consider industry best practices.
- Plan and carry out feasibility studies for medium and large applications/systems to establish the technical and economic
- Keep abreast of technology trends and developments in the areas of solution design, architecture, development patterns and
best practices; communicate accordingly to management and staff.
- Develop strong working relationships with industry contacts for the purpose of information exchange and awareness of new
- May act as Project Leader, lead a working group, and/or participate in various architecture and technology projects, upgrades,

- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff and backup support to the section supervisor as applicable.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of architecture decisions, configurations, and integrations.
- Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery plans are in place for critical systems.
- A four year degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from a university of recognized standing with a minimum of
five years of directly applicable systems analysis, systems architecture, and programming experience which includes a
minimum of three years computer systems analysis/architecture experience,

- A two year diploma in Computer Programming Technology from an institute of recognized standing with a minimum of seven
years of directly applicable systems analysis systems architecture, and programming experience which includes a minimum of
three years computer systems analysis/architecture experience.
- Excellent analytical and technical skills with demonstrated experience in systems/solution architecture, design, and analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, plan, control and make decisions related to the development of technology solutions.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in software design and development with a particular emphasis on service-oriented
- Possess a working knowledge in the use of methodologies and tools required to analyze, architect, support, and manage the
system development life cycle during a development project.
- Demonstrated ability to document, model, and analyse complex business processes, people, data, applications, and
- Demonstrated ability to interpret business and engineering problems or processes with project originators and develop
appropriate solutions in close liaison with business users.
- Ability to engage in problem analysis and the research of potential solutions while acting as a consultant to business users in
- Demonstrated experience with both participating in and leading various types and sizes of technology implementation,
integration, and enhancement projects with working knowledge of the Macroscope (SDLC) project deliverables.
- Demonstrated experience with coaching and motivating team members.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff at all levels.
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $47.22-$65.19 Hourly,
$90,484.68-$124,925.58 Annually.
