The Corporate Development Analyst has a critical role within HEP's corporate development team and is essential to the company's long-term success. Responsibilities include directly supporting key activities such as mergers and acquisitions, commercial project evaluations, business development support, and capital markets initiatives. The position offers extensive exposure to all facets of corporate development and involves direct collaboration with C-suite executives in an entrepreneurial and dynamic work environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Supports corporate and business development teams to manage the evaluation and execution of M&A and commercial projects.
- Performs valuation, sensitivity, and accretion/dilution analysis for potential greenfield projects, mergers, and acquisitions for energy and related projects by cooperating with the commercial, engineering, insurance, tax, and legal groups.
- Conducts market analysis, identifying and monitoring trends in the energy industry.
- Researches peer companies to identify market trends.
- Assists in the due diligence process for mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, ensuring all relevant information is gathered and analyzed.
- Assists in preparing analysis and presentations for capital raising activities for prospective debt and equity investors.
- Utilizes critical thinking to develop and communicate ad hoc financial and business analysis.
- Works closely with finance, engineering, legal, and operational teams to support transaction execution.
- Communicates company operations and strategy effectively to prospective investors.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Basic understanding of financial valuation methods.
- Ability to communicate company operations and strategy effectively to prospective investors.
- Intermediate Excel skills with a strong ability to develop and modify models.
- Intermediate PowerPoint skills to critically communicate with executives and Board of Directors.
- Basic understanding of lines of businesses and industry, general knowledge of upstream/midstream/downstream and willingness to follow industry news.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (orally and written).
- Highly attentive to details.
- Ability to work on multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
- Fosters a good work environment through a positive demeanor and offering to help others when necessary.
- Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or economics
- Master’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics is a plus
- 1+ years of work experience working at a top energy company or financial institution- Working to earn CPA or CFA certification is a plus
