Job Summary
:
As the Company's legal expert, this position is responsible for the full range of in-house legal and compliance support and advice. Specific responsibilities include advising on all aspects of federal and state employment law, contract review, mergers and acquisitions, litigation and arbitration, intellectual property law, and corporate compliance and governance.
Roles & Responsibilities
:
Contract Matters:
•Review and negotiate all corporate contracts and agreements.
Employment Matters:
•Assist Human Resources with EEOC charges.
•Respond to U.S. Department of Labor requests.
•Work closely with Human Resources on employee matters including terminations, drafting of employment-related policies, procedures interviews, and regulatory compliance requirements.
•Handle all employment litigation including the review of pleadings and discovery responses.
•Participate in depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
General Liability Matters:
•Manage third party litigation involving the Company.
•Work closely with and monitor retained outside counsel on all aspects of litigation.
Experience and Educational Background Description:
•Admitted to practice law in the State of Texas (required); licensed to practice law in New Jersey is preferred.
•Five to ten years of experience in a corporate environment and/or law firm setting.
•Experience in and strong knowledge of state and federal employment law.
•Experience with reviewing oil, gas, and energy contracts.
•Experience in corporate compliance.
•Experience in basic corporate governance.
•Experience in risk management and corporate insurance coverage.
