Controls Engineer

Sortera Technologies is looking for a Controls Engineer to join our team at our new facility in Lebanon, TN. This role plays a vital part in designing, programming, and maintaining automated control systems. You'll work hands-on with PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and control panels to ensure smooth and efficient plant performance as we grow and scale our Tennessee operations.

Responsibilities

- Design, program, build, and troubleshoot control systems including PLCs, HMIs, motion controls, sensors, and drives

- Conduct system integration, testing, and debugging to ensure functionality and reliability

- Develop, modify, and maintain control system documentation

- Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment and facility electrical systems

- Ensure that projects are planned and executed in a timely and efficient manner and routinely report progress

- Prepare technical manuals, work instructions, training materials, and troubleshooting guides required to support production activities

- Support Preventative Maintenance Planning and Coordination by ensuring all PM plans and tasks are in place to ensure effective maintenance

- Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and regulations

- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

- 4+ years proven experience in a Controls Engineering or related role

- Minimum of Associate's Degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field required

- Demonstrated ability to write and troubleshoot PLC code and HMI programming

- Ability to create systems designs and documentation in addition to marinating systems developed by others

- Ability to design and build control panels/systems

- Strong analytical skills and ability to solve problems and communicate effectively with little guidance

- Proficient in computer skills in Word and Excel, and CAD

- Excellent oral and written communication skills

- Works well in a team environment
