Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Contract Specialist II at our Elko operation. As part of the Supply Chain team, the successful candidate will be support centric adding to our already challenging, yet rewarding, work environment strengthening our mining operations.

The Contract Specialist is project oriented and is responsible to coordinate the timely and accurate development/execution of project contract plans to ensure the completion of key milestones/objectives, to minimize commercial risks, to enhance competitive advantage and to meet expectations while meeting Nevada Gold Mines internal standards and requirements.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Supply Chain Lead, the Contract Specialist is responsible for the following:

Responsible for delivering contracts that cover the requirements of the user areas in response to urgent and ongoing operational needs; identify and develop suppliers in the market to support commercial and operational needs
Managing tender process, facilitate the selection of service providers, develop contract documentation and support ongoing contract management as well as coordination of information to evaluate proposals with the user areas
Developing and maintaining contracts register for end-user group and maintain currency
Supporting the continuous improvement and execution of Barrick’s sourcing strategy, policies and guidelines for service categories and contracts; is a participant in the development of value-added service for SCM customers, cost savings, and other performance metrics
Ensuring timely and professional service to user departments in the preparation and evaluations of bids, negotiation with suppliers, and recommendation to management for approvals, preparation of contract documentation, issuance of award of contracts and regret letters, and, management and close out of contracts
Acquiring services per the operations requirements, obtaining the best total cost of ownership, term of execution and quality conditions
Delivering small project workstreams, carrying out specified project activities within defined time and quality parameters and ensuring adherence to the prescribed project management and permitting methodology
Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media
Knowing and complying with the current Mining Safety and Health regulations and Loss Prevention procedures of Barrick, considering the health and safety impact of all work-related decisions and seeking methods to improve safety performance of supplier base both operationally and contractually
Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting OR related field or equivalent experience required
Minimum 5 years of directly related procurement experience or equivalent combination of training and experience required
Minimum 3 years experience purchasing Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) and Light Vehicles
Experience in the development of RFQ’s and RFP’s
Experience in negotiations related to contractual conflict resolution.
Three (3) experience in utilizing SAP Procurement to perform Buyer’s role
Two (2) experience with Ariba sourcing and contract management or similar systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook)
