ROLE OVERVIEW
The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing legal support in the preparation, review, and management of contracts, compliance with mining industry regulations, and providing guidance to internal stakeholders within our operations. This position requires a deep understanding of contracts and risk management.
Pay Range: $60,000-$80,000 Base Salary DOE
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, including subcontracts, vendor agreements, and client contracts
•Ensure that contracts are compliant with legal, regulatory, and company policies
•Provide support and guidance to project managers, procurement teams, and other internal stakeholders regarding contractual obligations, terms, and risk management
•Monitor contract performance and compliance, identifying potential contract risks and proposing solutions
•Maintain organized records of all legal documents, contracts, and related correspondence
•Manage dispute resolution processes, including managing claims and working with external legal counsel as necessary
•Support the Chief Legal Counsel in researching relevant laws, regulations, and case law to ensure company compliance and mitigating risk
•Assist with regulatory filings and permit applications relevant to mining operations
•Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
•Minimum of 3-5 years of experience, particularly in contracts within the construction or mining sectors
•Strong knowledge of commercial contracts, risk management, and compliance requirements in the construction or mining industries
+ Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts
•Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage conflicting interests while protecting the company's interests
•Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements related to mining operations
•Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams
•Experience working in-house at a construction, mining, or energy company
•Knowledge of industry-specific laws, including environmental regulations, health and safety standards, and labor laws
•Self-starter with ability to handle complex issues in a fast-paced environment
•Proficiency with contract management software and document management systems
•+ Authorization to work lawfully in the USA without sponsorship from the Company
+ Fluent in the English language
EDUCATION
•Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or Law AND Certified Professional in Contract Management (CPCM); or
•Paralegal certification; or
•Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
+ If JD, admission to the state bar (or eligibility to become admitted)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
•Occasional in-state, out-of-state, and out-of-country travel to meet with suppliers or perform site visits
•Ability to attend and participate in meetings
•Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
•Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
