Position Title: Electrical Reliability Engineer

Reports to: Reliability Manager

Position Classification: Client Contractor

FLSA Status: Non- Exempt

Assignment Duration: This is a 12-month contract position, with the potential for extension based on team needs and the contractor’s performance and contributions

Location: Corpus Christi, TX - Refinery Setting

Work Schedule: Normal Schedule is Monday-Friday. Flexible hybrid schedule options available with travel to Corpus Christi as needed; full-time onsite option also available if preferred.

Purpose: The role will focus on scopes related to electrical system reliability, SKM model updates, arc flash analysis, and maintenance support.

Core Job Responsibilities

- Electrical Modeling & Analysis:

- Develop and update relay packages to support maintenance activities, including documentation of as-found conditions.

- Perform SKM model updates (preferred software: SKM Powertools), including first-pass updates for base systems, projects, and revalidation efforts.

- Conduct arc flash studies and relay coordination evaluations to support maintenance and safety compliance.

- Power Monitoring Systems:

- Work with power monitoring systems (preferred: Schneider Electric’s Power Monitoring Expert, PME), including device configuration, alarm management, and troubleshooting.

- Equipment Reliability:

- Provide support for transformer reliability and testing, including analysis of transformer oil sampling for asset health.

- Support reliability efforts for switchgear and motor control centers (MCCs).

- Investigations & Root Cause Analysis:

- Participate in investigations and root cause failure analyses (RCFAs), using tools such as CauseLink. Training will be provided as needed, and this responsibility may be optional depending on resource availability.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

- Strong technical aptitude with demonstrated ability to learn and apply complex electrical concepts.

- Hands-on experience with electrical modeling, system analysis, or reliability engineering practices (SKM PowerTools and/or Schneider PME experience is a plus).

- Solid understanding of power distribution equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and MCCs.

- Ability to conduct or support arc flash studies, relay coordination, and system troubleshooting.

- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data and recommend solutions.

- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.

- Open to candidates with a range of experience levels — from early-career engineers with strong technical foundations to highly experienced professionals.

Environment: Working conditions encountered in this job include those found in a typical office setting as well as an indoor/outdoor manufacturing setting which includes exposure to outside weather conditions, work at elevated heights, climbing of stairs and ladders, and physical manipulation of tools and mechanical equipment. This job demands the use of typical manufacturing personal protective equipment as well as advanced protective equipment as needed.
