Job Description:The Project Manager will be responsible for leading project teams, coordinating with stakeholders, tracking progress, and delivering projects on time and within budget.
Supervisory Responsibilities:Oversees one or a team of Superintendents and assistant and direct reports, and any office administrators assigned to ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications. Delegates work and assignments to team members based on expertise, work experience, and time constraints.
Duties/Responsibilities:Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with stakeholders.Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders.Utilize the resources and project estimate to achieve project goals.Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.Monitor and report on project progress on a regular basis to all stakeholders.Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs.Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.Build, develop, and nurture relationships vital to project success.Conduct project post-mortems and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.Preparing a baseline schedule for a project from NTP to completion in as much detail as needed or requested by management, using CPM methods.Accurately updating a project schedule on a monthly basis or as more frequently needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:The Project Manager has excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and customer service skills, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. In addition, the Project Manager has strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong supervisory and leadership skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.The Project Manager has a thorough understanding of or the ability to learn about the project quickly.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.Proficient with common Project Management and scheduling tools and software such as Procore, PlanGrid, Primavera, Microsoft Project or any other commonly used applications.
Physical Requirements:The Project Manager will experience prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.The Project Manager may be required to pick up material and equipment from vendors and deliver it to job sites as needed from time to time.The Project Manager will be required to visit job sites through every week to check on progress of work.
Travel:No travel outside of Southern California is expected for this position. However, we require pre-bid conference attendance and job site progress meetings with client representatives throughout Southern California.We expect the Project Manager to also travel to job sites under his or her management.
Required Education:Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Engineering Architecture, Business Management, Computer Science, is required. The candidate can substitute the educational requirement for this role with five years of verifiable work experience in the same position the applicant is applying for.
Preferred Education:PMP, PgMP, CAPM, or comparable project management certifications are highly desirable.
Required Work Experience:The ideal candidate would have a minimum experience of 7-years managing commercial construction projects in California.The ideal candidate would also have a minimum experience of 4-years managing Public construction projects in California.The ideal candidate has extensive verifiable experience with managing building construction (public or commercial).
