Summary
The Construction/Maintenance Planner Associate serves as liaison with customers (Project Management Organization, Major Customer Projects, and Strategic Transmission Projects), coordinates resources for construction/maintenance projects, ensures correct materials are ordered with Material Coordinator(s), equipment and manpower are provided for project completion, perform simple job design, and assist with the complex design of projects. Serve as Project Lead Associate for numerous, simultaneous projects.
(Note: The majority of the job duties [approximately 60%] are field activities performed out of doors at various project sites.) 5-days a week in the office or in the field.
Minimum Requirements
•Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or an equivalent discipline (or equivalent experience)
•Or Associate's degree in a related discipline with one (1) year of combined experience in construction management, project management, engineering (design)
•Or utility related operations and maintenance; or high school diploma and three (3) years of combined experience in construction management, project management, engineering (design)
•Or utility related operations and maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Working knowledge of company policies and procedures, environmental regulations, Labor agreement, APS Construction Standards, Accident Prevention Manual, OSHA standards and rubber glove practices highly desirable.
Good communications and interpersonal skills. Computer skills preferred Word, Excel, Maximo, MLIS. Experience with work scheduling is also preferred. Temporary out of town assignments may be required at times.
Valid Arizona driver's license required.
Major Accountabilities
• Serve as liaison with customers (internal/external) on various projects to ensure customer requirements andexpectations are accurately understood / communicated and met in a timely manner.2) Coordinate resources for construction projects to ensure fully staffed, multiple crews are always available.Track budget expenditures of contract.
• Order project materials from stock, allowing a two to three day lead time for delivery to project site, so materialsare available to the crew for scheduled work.
• May oversee the activities of the garage to ensure all inspections and repairs are completed thoroughly and onschedule. Maintain efficient vehicle records.
• Perform design duties for simple construction/maintenance projects and provide cost estimates for time andmaterials. Assist Designers and other Project Leaders to develop plans on complex design projects.
• May assure that the sub-transmission and distribution systems are operated in a safe, efficient, and economical manner, adhering to safety and good operating procedures as Duty Supervisor during 24 hour call out for restoration of electric service including storms and other emergencies.
• Resolve differences by encouraging and practicing open communication and accurate interpretation ofcompany policies and labor agreement.
• May serve as primary contact for the Division on environmental issues, hazardous materials communication,hazardous waste processing, industrial hygiene, water quality and PCB processing; train employees and tracktraining attendance; keep files current on material safety data sheets, inventories, waste shipment and keepabreast of new and current regulations that affect APS facilities and employees.
• May coordinate the warehouse and hauling activities to ensure that materials are stocked and delivered in anefficient and timely manner. May coordinate maintenance of facilities and new construction projects; coordinatemaintenance orders and non-revenue Work Authorizations (WAs).
• Promote safety awareness and accident reductions through safety meetings, tailboards and implementationof safe work procedures and practices.
• Perform inspections per specification requirements or oversee the activities to ensure all inspections andrepairs are completed thoroughly and on schedule. Maintain department documents.
• Set up quarterly meetings with PMs from PMO, MCP, and STP to ensure visibility and alignment of upcomingprojects.
• Conduct field visits and coordinate identified challenges/concerns with respective work groups to effectively support P&C Technicians.
