The Environmental Compliance Advisor will be supporting the Environmental Authorization Coordinator with the ministerial authorization process and any other environmental permits. The main responsibility of the position is to analyze and comprehend the application of laws and regulations, write and review technical documents, and manage projects as part of multidisciplinary teams. The candidate will also be responsible for monitoring and measuring the performance of the company’s environmental management systems. The advisor will work a 5-2 schedule at our Montreal office.

Tasks and responsibilities

•

Collaborate with other team members to prepare applications for ministerial authorization and other environmental permits;

•

Assist the Environmental Authorization Coordinator in the preparation of technical reports and ensure the quality of deliverables provided by external consultants;

•

Contribute to the compilation of permit requirements and conditions;

•

Contribute to the development of tools that promote awareness of environmental issues, best practices, and regulatory requirements;

•

Provide support for the follow-up of the Towards Sustainable Mining (TMS) program protocols;

•

Participate in monitoring the environmental management system;

•

Perform any other related tasks requested by the immediate supervisor;

•

Report any situation that potentially harm the occupational heath and safety of workers or the physical integrity of facilities;

•

Participate in the preparation of weekly, monthly and annual reports for the Board of Directors;

•

Comply with health, safety and environmental policies and regulations at all times;

•

Perform any other necessary tasks to ensure the department runs smoothly.

Technical skills

•

Knowledge of the environmental issues related to the industrial sector, especially mining, and its related regulation;

•

Knowledge of the provincial Environment Quality Act and related regulations such as REAFIE, RAMHHS, RMD, etc;

•

Knowledge of reference guides and practices, including Directive 19, will be considered an asset;

•

Ability to manage projects in multidisciplinary teams;

•

Knowledge of office suite software;

•

Knowledge of cartography and/or geomatics software will be considered an asset
