JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Computer Systems Engineer.
Reporting to the Manager, Engineering, this position is responsible for managing and monitoring digital control computers/components for systems performance, equipment reliability, and life cycle within the station.
- Working & troubleshooting digital computers Instrumentation and Control (l&C) systems.
- Working with Real Time Process Computing (RTPC) hardware and software, microcontrollers, FPGAs and PCBs, computers and digital controllers to monitor system performance, equipment reliability, and provide life cycle management for systems and equipment within the station.
- Interfacing with a number of internal stakeholders including Operations, Maintenance, Design and Projects.
- Preparing Computer design documents, work plans for installation, and Engineering Change packages (ECC).
- Follow up with procurement and provide necessary technical services during field installation.
- Working in a computer lab environment for troubleshooting and testing.
- 4 Year Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering or Software Engineering
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience
- Experience with performance and equipment reliability of Real-Time Process Computing (RTPC) systems and components.
- Experience with lifecycle management planning for computer control systems.
- Hands-on experience working on digital computer systems/components including troubleshooting, testing, and procurement.
- Proficiency in preparing technical documentation and procedures such as requirement documents, technical specifications, including installation work plans, and various operations and maintenance procedures.
- Additional Desired Qualifications include the following:
- Some experience with Digital Equipment Corporation minicomputers (specifically PDP-11 series) and the RSX-11M OS would be highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience working with various tools (Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzers) and windows command line to troubleshoot abnormal system behaviour.
- Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario, or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions.
