Responsibilities: Compressor Technician will operate, perform preventative maintenance and repairs to compressors and other support equipment. Special focus will be placed on: Maintains a safe operating environmentCaterpillar System Certifications - 3500 & 3600 Series ExperienceOperates, troubleshoots and performs preventive maintenance and major repairs of natural gas engines, electric motors, auxiliary equipment and gas compressorsStarts up, shuts down gas compressor units and performs major equipment overhaulsTests Emergency Shut Down (ESD) systemsRecords readings (pressures, temperatures, volumes hours run, etc.) in a computerized database Maximo/DataspliceMonitors availability of compressor unitsPerforms advanced troubleshooting and repairs of gas fired engines, electric motors and compressorsProvides advanced troubleshooting and performs major preventative maintenance including analyzing operation and making adjustments to dehydration unitsProvides advanced troubleshooting, maintenance and testing of chiller and flare systemsAdjusts and repairs pressure regulation systems and pneumatic systemsChecks and maintains glycol levels, circulation rates and contents to optimize operations by analyzing operational parametersOperates, repairs and troubleshoots manual and automated controls on compressor units to optimize compressor throughputUses computerized database to receive work orders, record PM's, record repairs, runs reports and designs PM taskParticipates in an on-call rotation schedulePerforms other duties as directed by supervisor Qualifications: POSITION REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience Associate's degree in a technical discipline preferred At least three years related mechanical experience, with two years of related natural gas experience Intermediate computer skills, including MS Word, Excel and Access Electrical and electronic skills with basic knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and engine and compressor analyzing preferred Basic gas quality processing and conditioning skills Valid driver license Ability to pass a physical capabilities test (which includes, but is not limited to, lifting and carrying 70 lbs., walking 1/2 mile at various inclines, etc.) necessary to demonstrate the physical ability to perform the essential functions of this job Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: The individual must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, and normally involves physically getting into and out of equipment using vertically mounted ladders up to and including 10’ or more in height Visually seeing driving operations well (either naturally or with corrective lenses) Standing, stooping kneeling, squatting, climbing, and sitting Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work Working at elevated heights Ability to lift to 75 lbs., bending, twisting, kneeling, sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time required Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving. Skill in the operation of listed tools and equipment. Ability to safely drive various vehicles. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work independently. Ability to drive in all weather conditions. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under the varying weather conditions Adapting to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure to sometimes adverse weather conditions Remaining calm during emergencies and respond as dictated by the circumstance of the incident Exposure to working outdoors in all-weather conditions
