Ovintiv is seeking a Compression Technician who will enforce a safe work always approach to lead and support basic-to-advanced maintenance tasks on gas artificial lift and VRU compression packages. Duties will include learning from experienced technicians, performing maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, installing, and commissioning gas-fired and electric compressor packages. Supervision responsibilities for safe work of third party mechanics or equipment service providers of all work will be required. Will need analytical skills, including the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment.

Location: Midland/Odessa, TX

Responsibilities:

•

Submit daily Start Work Safely Authorization (SWSA), production reports and all cost tracking paperwork accurately.

•

Offer basic leadership and training to new technicians and mentor all third party or service provider crews on high-risk work for safe supervision.

•

Efficiently diagnose engine and compressor failures, and work with all third party services for repairs, air compliance tests (JJJJ & Title V) and/or scheduled maintenance PMs.

•

Provide input on service provider personnel and material needs for job planning.

•

Perform diagnostics and repairs in the field with limited supervision even in adverse conditions.

•

Troubleshoot electrical systems and basic controls.

•

Maintain superior housekeeping standards throughout all operations areas and Ovintiv locations.

•

Assist in installing new unit sets with minimal supervision.

•

Conduct mechanical inspections independently using specialized tools.

•

Be able to rotate schedule for ON CALL shifts or respond through weather events.

•

Be prepared for frequent travel, including nights, weekends and holidays.

•

Adhere to health, safety and environmental policies.

•

Maintain a professional demeanor and provide excellent customer service.

Qualifications:

•

Two or more years of gas compression experience required. Three years of relevant experience preferred.

•

High school diploma or equivalent with some vocational/technical experience.

•

Experience with a variety of natural gas compressor packages and related components.

•

Preferably certified in relevant areas such as CAT Gas I, CAT Gas II, CAT Electrical, Ariel Basic, Ariel Mechanical, CAT 3500 ADEM III and IV, CAT 3500ULB and J, Waukesha VHP.

•

Ability to work under pressure and collaboratively with a team.

•

Capable of lifting, pulling and pushing at least 75 lbs.

•

Able to stand, kneel, bend and stretch during equipment repairs.

•

Comfortable working in various climates and temperatures.

•

Work setting is 80% field, 20% office. Ability to go ON CALL schedule or work Night Shifts through weather events.

•

Safety sensitive position subject to random drug testing requirements.
