Job Summary

Responsible for operating front load garbage trucks on a commercial route. This position requires a Class B CDL.

Principle Duties

•

Operate the garbage truck safely and efficiently to transport waste materials.

•

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.

•

Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies while on the road.

•

Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance on vehicles as needed.

•

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, co-workers, and others.

Qualifications

•

Valid commercial driver's license (CDL Class B)

•

Experience operating Class B trucks or similar heavy-duty vehicles preferred.

•

Ability to follow directions and read maps,

•

Ability to work on his own with little supervision,

•

Alert to surroundings and especially over head wires, trees, able to judge distance, able to back up using mirrors.

•

Physical requirements: use of both feet for clutch and gas pedal, climbing into and out of the truck, use of both arms and hands for steering, able to shovel debris from inside of truck on a daily basis, pushing / pulling containers on a limited basis. Must wear the proper personal protective equipment.
