Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commercial Electrical Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial electrical systems, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to produce accurate, consistent cost estimates for a variety of projects. This role is crucial in ensuring our proposals are competitive, profitable, and align with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
•Analyze blueprints, specifications, and related documents to prepare accurate electrical estimates.
•Perform site visits to gather information on project requirements.
•Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
•Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, including labor, materials, equipment, and other direct costs.
•Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure estimates meet project goals and timelines.
•Monitor market trends and pricing to ensure estimates remain competitive.
•Participate in bid reviews and presentations to clients.
•Maintain organized records of all estimates and proposals.
Qualifications:
•Experience in value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
•Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator, preferably in commercial projects.
•Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, codes, and standards.
•Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
•Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
•Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
•Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
•Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Education and Experience:
At least 3–5 years of electrical experience with demonstrated competency in:
•Motor calculations (including NEC rules for conductor and overload sizing)
•Service calculations (residential, commercial, and industrial)
•Voltage drop calculations (per NEC guidelines for feeders and branch circuits)
•Short circuit and fault current analysis
•Conduit and conductor fill calculations
•Load balancing and panel schedules
•Lighting calculations (lumens, foot-candles, occupancy needs)
•Generator and backup power sizing
•Transformers and step-up/step-down voltage planning
•Power factor correction and demand load calculations
•Coordination with utility requirements and interconnection standards
