Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commercial Electrical Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial electrical systems, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to produce accurate, consistent cost estimates for a variety of projects. This role is crucial in ensuring our proposals are competitive, profitable, and align with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Analyze blueprints, specifications, and related documents to prepare accurate electrical estimates.
•
Perform site visits to gather information on project requirements.
•
Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
•
Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, including labor, materials, equipment, and other direct costs.
•
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure estimates meet project goals and timelines.
•
Monitor market trends and pricing to ensure estimates remain competitive.
•
Participate in bid reviews and presentations to clients.
•
Maintain organized records of all estimates and proposals.
Qualifications:
•
Experience in value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
•
Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator, preferably in commercial projects.
•
Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, codes, and standards.
•
Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
•
Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
•
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
•
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
•
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
•
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Education and Experience:
At least 3–5 years of electrical experience with demonstrated competency in:
•
Motor calculations (including NEC rules for conductor and overload sizing)
•
Service calculations (residential, commercial, and industrial)
•
Voltage drop calculations (per NEC guidelines for feeders and branch circuits)
•
Short circuit and fault current analysis
•
Conduit and conductor fill calculations
•
Load balancing and panel schedules
•
Lighting calculations (lumens, foot-candles, occupancy needs)
•
Generator and backup power sizing
•
Transformers and step-up/step-down voltage planning
•
Power factor correction and demand load calculations
•
Coordination with utility requirements and interconnection standards
