The Commercial Applications Engineer is responsible for supporting a variety of business needs related to the sizing and selection of Flow Safe pressure relief valves.
- Support commercial operations by leading proposal development, including but not limited to sizing pressure relief valves and reviewing/translating customer specifications into order entry instructions and/or budgetary proposals.
- Support commercial operations by executing pricing, quoting, and order entry.
- Develop strategic approaches for proposal development, including positioning the organization's capabilities, identifying unique selling points, and addressing client needs and concerns.
- Provide technical support for the business’s strategic initiatives to optimize configure/price/quote tools
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, acting as the primary point of contact for technical inquiries and issues.
- Serve as a technical expert for pressure relief valve products, providing guidance, training, and technical support to both internal and external customers.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of customer needs and the technical requirements of their applications. Work with engineering team to develop customized solutions that address specific customer requirements.
- Provide market feedback and voice of customer needs to product line management, outside sales, and engineering to influence business strategy, new product development, & sustaining engineering activities.
- Support and execute sustaining engineering projects.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop technical sales materials, such as product brochures, case studies, and white papers
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in product applications engineering
- Ability to travel overnight less than 10% of the time, primarily domestic with potential for some international travel, as business needs dictate.
- Strong understanding of pressure relief valves and applicable codes and standards (ASME Section XIII, ASME Section VIII-1, API 520, API 521, API 526, API 527, etc.)
- Strong mechanical aptitude for valve selection and technical sizing.
- Ability to comprehend global regulatory standards and translate to current product strengths and weaknesses.
- Proven experience in project management, proposal development, or a related field, with a track record of successfully leading the development and submission of complex proposals.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
- Ability to recognize and identify root cause of issues, and apply containment, corrective, and preventative action.
- Strong, process-based approach to problem solving.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), ERP, sizing tools, and project management software.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport, negotiate effectively, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented, with a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
