Job Description:

Summary:

NOTE: The start date for this position is September 2026.  The length of the term is 12 months.

AltaLink’s Customer Project Development Group is currently looking for a Co-op/Internship student who will assist in the development of new customer projects. The primary focus will be to manage the development, scoping, estimating, scheduling, and customer expectations for multiple projects seeking to expand AltaLink’s transmission system.

The Customer Project Development team is accountable for managing new connections to AltaLink’s transmission system and works with customers from many different backgrounds and technologies.

Reporting to the Manager, Customer Project Development, the successful candidate will assist the team in developing these projects, managing the portfolio reports, leading the project through governance meetings, meeting with customers to understand requirements and document accountabilities, and also preparing cost estimates and risk evaluations in conjunction with team members.

Responsibilities:

The following activities will be performed under the guidance of an experienced AltaLink Project Manager:

- Manage information about the overall Project Development Portfolio, including reporting and initiation of new projects in multiple data sets.

- Prepare information packages for project governance review.

- Assist in financial management of projects and the creation of monthly cost forecasts;

- Assist in the creation of applications for regulatory approvals;

- Manage and coordinate multiple customers and changing priorities; and

- Manage and communicate with consultants and AltaLink project team members on project scope, objectives, accountabilities and commitments.

Requirements

Qualifications:

- An Engineering student who has completed two or more years of study and is enrolled in an Internship program at a recognized University. Preference will go to students enrolled in electrical engineering programs.

- A valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license;

- Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities;

- Experience working with Substation engineering/construction would be an asset;

- Project Management experience would be an asset;

- Working knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook;

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive customer outcomes;

- Superior organizational and time management skills;

- Capable of managing multiple competing priorities; and

- Experience working in SAP would be an asset.

- Proven track record of good performance and attendance.
