CNC PRODUCTION OPERATOR/LEAD PERSON
Position Summary: In this position, you will provide leadership support to the CNC Supervisor, acting as the first point of contact for the other Operators in the Department. Additionally, you will be responsible for operating assigned machining equipment in supporting the manufacturing needs of the company. This includes preventative maintenance and machine changeovers. Essential Job Duties:
•Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, materials, specifications, and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
•Programs CNC equipment by CAM and G-code, and entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
•Learns to operate and then teach varied adjunct equipment as needed (non-CNC)
•Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces
•Maintains specifications by observing and taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
•Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
•Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
•Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
•Support a safety culture by following all safety rules including reporting all incidents and near misses.
Lead Person Responsibilities:
•Plans work priorities with the Supervisor.
•Fields and responds to questions and concerns from CNC machinists and operators
•Ensures departmental documentation is kept up-to-date.
•Participates in and delegates housekeeping and maintenance activities.
•Attends some daily production meetings.
•Assumes a Supervisory role when the Supervisor is not present.
Additional Responsibilities: As assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Education/Technical Skills
•Associate's degree (A.A.) preferred
•Should be proficient with CNC controls and manually operated milling equipment.
•Proficient in programming in CAD/CAM software
•Must possess strong knowledge of machines and tools with regard to safety, use and repair.
•Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work as a team
•Ability to use measuring equipment
•Ability to operate machinery
•At least 5 years of work-related experience required.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Strong project management abilities; capable of prioritizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously, under tight time constraints and within budget parameters

Physical Requirements/Safety:
•Support a safety culture by following all safety rules including reporting all incidents and near misses.
•Lifting - 40 lbs. and on occasion 60 lbs.
•Ability to stand for long periods, frequent bending and reaching.
•Ability to tolerate high temperatures in the work environment.
