CNC Mill Machinist is responsible for setting up, machining and producing complex parts to high tolerance design specifications on a CNC vertical mill in an accurate, timely and cost-effective manner.
- Operates all equipment and tools with the utmost attention to safety and professionalism
- Reviews blueprints, drawings, schematics, engineering information, or sample parts to determine product dimensions and tolerances, as well as the best method and sequence of operations to fabricate parts.
- Independently sets up and operates CNC mills.
- Ability to read and interpret G&M code.
- Selects appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used for machining work.
- Capable of performing quality control functions on the CNC mill such as offset adjustments.
- Aligns/ secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines.
- Monitors the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
- Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs.
- Measures, examines and tests finished parts to identify defects and ensure they meet specifications.
- Ensures all work is performed to the highest standards of quality and safety within the machining cell.
- Recommends measures to enhance production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Supports training initiatives and plans the development of all CNC mills.
- Train and operate manual machines on occasion as needed.
- Strong analytical and communication skills are a must.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and troubleshoot issues.
- Must know how to use precision measuring tools (micrometers and calipers)
- Demonstrated ability to set up a machine and run the job with minimal supervision.
- Possesses knowledge of G, D & T.
- Ability to change and adapt work behaviors based on a constantly changing production schedule.
- Able to read, write and communicate fluently in English
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 5+ years machining experience with a CNC mill
- Exerts up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects
