Merit Manufacturing was founded in 2005 offering laser cutting and metal forming services to clients across South Wester Ontario and Quebec. Sweeprite, a division of Merit Manufacturing has been building road sweeping machine since 1978. Sweeprite division was founded in Regina Saskatchewan and move to Breslau, Ontario in 2018. Sweeprite is known through out the road sweeping industry for its many innovations and the quality of its products. our growing company has a great team that work together to continuously improve their skills.
We are seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating laser cutting machinery to produce high-quality components according to specifications. This role requires a keen eye for detail, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Duties
•Operate and monitor laser cutting machines to ensure optimal performance and output quality.
•Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and work orders to determine job specifications.
•Conduct routine maintenance on laser equipment and troubleshoot any issues that arise during operation.
•Utilize basic math skills for measurements and calculations necessary for fabrication processes.
•Collaborate with team members to optimize production processes and improve efficiency through lean manufacturing principles.
•Safely operate forklifts and other machinery as needed for material handling.
•Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
•Assist in the setup of milling machines and lathes as required for various projects.
Experience
•Previous experience in laser operation or related machining roles is preferred.
•Familiarity with CAD software for design interpretation is highly desirable.
•Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to use tools such as calipers for precise measurements.
•Experience in lean manufacturing practices is a plus.
•Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
