Simon Group Holdings (“SGH” or the “Company”) is a family office led by Sam Simon. The Company is a diversified investor with a portfolio that includes control ownership of several portfolio companies and minority positions in other assets and securities. SGH is unique in its underwriting approach because it over-indexes on the people that drive a business. The investment focus is on finding the right opportunities that involve the right human spirit. As Sam Simon says, “A business is not all about the balance sheet. We look at every aspect of their business. We look at their back office, their culture, but most importantly… their people. “
SGH’s flagship company is Atlas Oil which Sam began building from the ground up 32 years ago. With Atlas he created and instilled a culture and attitude that still resonates across all the Simon Group Holdings companies today. The SGH team loves what it does and leverages a strong culture where the entire team fully leans into an inherent set of shared values. Urgency, collaboration, solutions-mindedness, hands-on player/coaches, strong work ethic – these behaviors are all deeply rooted across SGH.
“We invest ourselves in every transaction.” Sam and the entire Leadership Team are financially invested in every transaction. Senior management from legal, accounting, financial analysts, human resources and operations are involved in evaluating each one. The SGH investment strategy focuses on acquiring companies that need a strategic financial investment partner that would benefit from strong operational background and focus on enhancing technology. SGH also seeks to acquire organizations that would benefit from our network of companies that can be used for cross-pollination. The Company is predominantly a buy-and-hold investor with a focus on the long-term horizon.
SGH investment criteria include:
Verticals that need an investment with change/growth/technology.
Legacy businesses that have been slow to adopt digital technology.
Entrepreneurial operators.
Businesses that can be complemented with add-ons once acquired.
Businesses that have synergies with SGH family of companies.
The ability to add digital technology and innovation.
