- Perform planned and breakdown maintenance/repairs/installations to mobile and stationery equipment or facilities as determined by work orders
- Safely troubleshoot and resolve mechanical/electrical problems and conduct work within planned time frames
- Enter reports on maintenance, repairs and diagnoses into the maintenance database prior to the end of each shift
- Assist in the efficient commissioning of new installations and modifications, ensuring any new installation or modification/repair has been fully tested prior to operational implementation.
- Keep work areas clean and free of safety hazards on a continuous basis.
- Ensure all tools of the trade are maintained in a safe operating condition as determined by manufacturer specifications and/or standard operating procedures. Immediately report any unsafe condition to the supervisor.
- Contribute to safety and productivity by constructively participating in safety meetings, incident investigations and design reviews to ensure site safety standards and operational requirements are complied with.
- As required, help develop apprentice trades persons, including delegating tasks or projects that will assist with their skill development, so the individual can provide greater support and meet apprenticeship requirements.
- As required and directed, provide trade and non-trade assistance to other employees or project groups and perform other related duties as required.
- Has a Canadian Red Seal Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic or Millwright
- A minimum of 3 years industrial experience working on equipment or installations relevant to a Coal processing plant would be an asset
- In-depth knowledge of the installation, operation and maintenance/repair of mobile and stationery equipment or facilities such as:
- Conveyor Systems ( Belt and Chain )
- Centrifugal Pumps
- Motor Alignments
- Sizing Screens
- Belt drives
- Rigging and Hoisting
- Basic Welding experience
- Material processing plant experience would be an asset
- Knowledge of industry design practices, codes and safety standards
- Knowledge of computer programs including common office software
- Good communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently
- Demonstrated sound work ethics and a commitment to safety
Work Environment
The incumbent works at the CST Mine Site facility on a 12 hour, 7 day on/7 day off, day shift schedule. (Night shifts are required in some Departments). Overtime and call-outs may be required due to the nature of the work. He/she can expect to work in both an indoor setting and outdoors in inclement weather and may be exposed to dangerous physical hazards [heavy lifting] found around an industrial site including possible exposure to fire, smoke, fumes, odors, chemicals from oxy-acetylene cutting and welding and exposure to coal dust. The incumbent may be exposed to loud and continuous noise levels that require ear protection. As a condition of employment, the incumbent is required to comply with pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as per the Drug and Alcohol Policy. As required, personal protective equipment will include, but is not limited to, the use of an approved hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots, hearing protection, CSA approved respiratory protection, protective clothing and gloves.
Wages And Benefits
- No camp available, you are be required to hold residence, on some level, in the hamlet of Grande Cache for the duration of your work rotation.
- 7 and 7, 12 hour day /night rotation.
- $52.13 per hour.
- $1.10 per hour night shift premium.
- $600.00 per year for boot/clothing allowance. ($23.00 bi weekly taxable, benefit)
- $1,500.00 per year tool allowance ($57.70 bi-weekly, taxable benefit)
- $600.00 per month Trades Allowance ($300.00 bi weekly, taxable benefit)
- $500.00 per month Living Allowance ($250.00 bi weekly, taxable benefit)
