Central Tech Services Manager

Basic Function

HF Sinclair in Dallas, TX is seeking a Process Engineering Manager for our Central Tech Services Dept. This position will lead a team of engineers providing technical support to the HF Sinclair Navajo Refinery located in Artesia, NM. The position and the Central Tech Service Center team will deliver support specific to Process Engineering and Refinery Technical Services.

Job Duties

- Develops and evaluates major capital projects, considering long-term economics and maximizing NPV contribution to HollyFrontier.

- Ensures all engineering activities are in accordance with organizational standards.

- Identify, develop options around significant refining threats and opportunities. Progress initiatives to major capital project execution group, refinery routine capital groups, and commercial/ operations groups.

- Generates new ideas and ways to improve profitability or new commercial opportunities.

- Evaluates new ideas and processes that will improve the Company's profitability or competitive position.

- Responds to requests to recommend solutions to new product specifications or new environmental rules.

- Facilitates communication between corporate economic, process engineering and operations groups and the refineries to align project selection, development and execution.

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time, are at the supervisor's sole and complete discretion.

Experience

A minimum of 10 years of experience, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the refining industry, is required.

Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in engineering is required. PREFERRED EDUCATION LEVEL: A Degree in Chemical engineering is preferred.

Required Skills

Proven leadership ability. Good spreadsheet, database and word processing applications knowledge; advanced time-management, organizational, project planning and management skills; demonstrated competency in the execution of multiple projects. Advanced verbal and written communications and reading skills; advanced interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate to others; presentation, negotiation and organizational skills; ability to communicate technical plans, strategies and designs with all levels of the organization. Ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations. Proficient in procurement, inventory control and cost containment; knowledge of refinery principles, safety practices, and regulatory compliance procedures.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

Supervises approximately five Engineering Specialists.

Work Conditions

Office and field based with travel up to 30% of the time is required. Required from time to time to work out of doors. Subject to all weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise finger and hand movements, reaching or grasping, ability to wear personal protective equipment (beards not permitted). Job conditions may require lifting or carrying up to 20lbs, and climbing up to 40 ft.
