We are looking for a Geotechnical Superintendent to safely and effectively oversee tailings and heap leach facilities across our operation. This is a senior role that is integral to our sustainable operation and will be required to interact with all levels of the organization from front line operators through to site, NGM and Executive leadership. This is a broad hands-on role that will suit a practical career driven Engineer with tailings management experience.

Responsibilities
•Provide day to day management of tailings and heap leach facilities in line with operating manuals, management standards permits and codes.
•Ensure facilities are operated in line with design intent including inspections, reviews, and corrective actions are completed
•Ensure facility water and depositional balances are in place, calibrated, and complied with
•Fulfill the duties of RTFE for all heap leach and tailings facilities on site
•Manage, oversee, and coordinate the works of Engineers of Record and other internal and external parties to ensure safe and compliant facility operations throughout its lifecycle
•Conduct critical review of and ensure design process and documents submitted by the Engineer of Record are consistent with the construction, operation, and closure performance requirements of the tailings or heap Leach facilities. This includes site investigation plans, technical report, engineering designs and construction drawings, specifications and reclamation requirements.
•Coordinate, actively participate in and Review the Dam Safety Inspections, Dam Safety Reviews and Assurance Reviews and ensure that the recommendations are acted upon
•Coordinate and prepare for Independent Third-Party Reviews, technical evaluations and risk assessments, participate in reviews and ensure that the recommendations are acted upon
•Ensure conformance to the Barrick Tailings and Heap Leach Management Standards
•Ensure conformance to the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management including managing the requirements for demonstrated conformance.
•Maintain regular communication with qualified NGM site and corporate personnel for specialist review of geotechnical, hydrological, hydrogeological, and environmental issues
•Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
•Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering or related engineering degree required
•Knowledge of Tailings and Heap leach operations and construction required
•Professional Engineer designation preferred
•Tailings management and / or construction including Geotechnical/Civil Engineering experience required
•10 years of experience in the mining or related industry preferred
•Strong oral and written communication skills required
