Job Description
Brief Description:
The Buyer II is responsible for the procurement and planning of materials, equipment, parts, supplies, and services necessary to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures that quality, cost, and inventory objectives are met while maintaining production schedules. The Buyer II works closely with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain teams to support operational efficiency and supplier performance.
This position reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager or designated supervisor.
Detailed Description•Process Requests for Quote (RFQ) and Requests for Proposal (RFP); prepare and issue purchase orders with proper approvals.
•Source and acquire materials, components, services, and equipment to maintain production flow.
•Ensure timely delivery of purchased items; follow up on delinquent orders and expedite as needed.
•Maintain and update the open purchase order report; track order status and fulfillment.
•Coordinate and perform inventory audits, including data entry for inventory cycle counts.
•Monitor and ensure the quality of goods and services received.
•Collaborate with suppliers to coordinate and manage returns or quality issues.
•Ensure adherence to internal control procedures and company procurement policies.
•Analyze purchasing options and make cost-effective decisions to support company goals.
•Assist in developing and maintaining supplier relationships and performance records.
•Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support supply chain operations.
Job Requirements
•Strong understanding of purchasing practices and supply chain processes.
•Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for internal and external collaboration.
•Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; ERP system experience preferred.
•Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
•Willingness to work extended hours as needed for time-sensitive tasks.
•Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
•Associate’s degree in any field or relevant experience in lieu of education.
•5+ years of experience in a Buyer or Purchasing role.
•Must have a state-issued driver’s license and be eligible to drive a Company vehicle, including ability to meet requirements of Company's Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related discipline.
•APICS (Association for Supply Chain Management) or CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) certification.
Additional Details
The Buyer II requires the ability to work in a time sensitive, high visibility role while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor when adversity is encountered. Work is primarily in a climate controlled / office environment with minimal safety / health hazard potential. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, or walk with occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending and frequent near vision use for reading and use of computer, telephone, and other office equipment.
