Dorsey has an opening for a Buyer in Elba, Alabama. This is a first shift position.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Follow established procurement process and identify opportunities to improve supply base and overall budgeted operational costs
•Exercise a high degree of autonomy, judgement and fiscal responsibility in generating purchase orders, in accordance with company parameters.
•Analyze market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and make recommendations to leadership as it related to vendor purchases.
•Implement strategies to reduce procurement costs in the buying practices.
•Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock without over-purchasing.
•Effectively utilize current ERP to analyze data relating to demand planning. Examine trends to suggest changes to current forecasting.
•Analyze daily Google Spreadsheet reports available to take actions to improve backorders and fill-rate.
•Monitor forecasting tools provided and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
•Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers.
•Evaluate supplier performance and collaborate with Purchasing Leadership to address any issues that arise.
•Develop alternative sources to mitigate risk.
•Analyze market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings.
•Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and regulations.
•Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information.
•Work closely with other departments (e.g., operations, engineering, finance) to align purchasing activities with overall business objectives
Qualifications Needed
•3+ year degree in Business or related field, or equivalent experience
•2+ years' experience as a Buyer
•Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills
•Quick learner with aptitude to learn more and drive change
•Experience in working in a cross-functional team
•Self-motivated, disciplined, communicative, and organized
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Great interpersonal and networking skills
Preferred Qualifications:
•Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) is a plus.
•Experience in manufacturing.
Citizenship requirement: Due to the nature of this role, proof of US Citizenship or legal US Residency is required upon hire.
Travel requirements: Due to the nature of the work, 5% of travel may be required
