The Business Support Finance Adviser will own all aspects of Financial Planning and Analysis for designated IT business areas as well as the budgeting process for the enterprise IT organization. This role partners directly with business owners, collaborates across functions, and leads strategic financial initiatives. This role will drive budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and capital investment evaluation while ensuring compliance with accounting policies and internal controls for their business areas.
- Lead FP&A processes for assigned business areas.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Provide actionable insights to business leaders to drive performance and strategic decisions.
- Serve as the primary financial liaison for leaders within assigned business areas.
- Collaborate with IT leadership, Accounting, and other business areas to align financial goals and reporting.
- Establish and foster strong relationships across departments to ensure transparency and alignment.
- Ensure adherence to accounting policies, internal controls, and financial governance standards.
- Review and coordinate Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) forms and intercompany allocations.
- Support contract review and administration to ensure proper budgeting and accounting treatment.
- Lead enterprise-wide financial initiatives and special projects.
- Develop and implement new financial processes and reporting methods.
- Drive system integration efforts and data consistency across platforms and systems.
- Deliver monthly variance reports and executive summaries.
- Perform detailed financial analysis to support long-term budgetary decisions.
Provide analytical support for capital investment decisions and O&M vs. Capital classifications.
Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics or finance or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.) Six years of related experience.
Highly effective and demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills necessary to interpret economic, financial and accounting information as well as other statistical data, information or events in order to perform analysis, draw proper conclusions and make recommendations for action.
Knowledge of information technology terms, equipment, systems, functions and major vendors.
Demonstrated advanced research and analytical skills and strong attention to detail. Strong software skills in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.
Experience with other software applications including PowerPoint, e-mail, Oracle Financials.
Advanced spreadsheet and report design skills for presentation of financial and other statistical information. Strong skills in database management and query skills using standard querying tools used by the company.
Leadership skills to provide guidance, direction, orientation and instruction.
Demonstrated ability to work within strict deadlines and handle multiple projects and with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds; ability to work as a member of a team.
Demonstrated ability to establish and monitor adherence to standards. Effective oral and written communication skills.
