The Business Operations Specialist will be responsible for providing Refinery operational support for the Turnaround (TAR) scoping process, assisting with planning and execution of plant objectives safely, effectively and efficiently.
- As a subject matter expert in Refinery Operations, this position will continually share knowledge with the organization regarding MOC’s, PSM, PHA’s, Turnaround (TAR) scoping, investigations, troubleshooting, operating risk, and opportunity.
- Knowledge of Refinery units will be critical to ensure projects are properly understood through accurate DMF’s and properly prioritized.
- Understand the long-term points of view for all Refinery units.
- Identify production constraints.
- Work with Training Operations Specialist and Refinery Operations Manager to help identify and execute operational training and certifications.
- Collaborate with various business departments to troubleshoot and resolve quality and process opportunities.
- Ensure value-adding projects are prepared and reviewed for TAR scoping.
- Support the ULSD and Crude Business Team’s strategies to increase margin, decrease cost and invest capital in priority areas.
- Work with the maintenance team on developing plans for partial unit outages to address maintenance repairs.
- Ensure Annual audits are completed and reviewed for accuracy.
- Utilize monitoring tools for early identification of potential problems, with all issues promptly investigated and if needed, elevated.
- Ensure all work-related decisions, projects, and actions include proper representation to ensure compliance; decisions and actions conducted lawfully and with integrity.
- Associate degree (or higher level) in Process Technology with operations experience preferred.
- Minimum of seven (7) years refinery or similar process plant operations experience.
- Knowledge of refinery process units, process control methods, and control parameters while possessing current knowledge of all operating procedures and Safety, Work and Environmental policies, rules and procedures required.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills with primary emphasis in Microsoft Office Word, Excel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate daily activities across the various business departments.
- Must be available as needed for various plant emergencies to ensure continuous safe and environmentally compliant plant production.
- Must be able to acquire knowledge and become an expert and teacher for that knowledge as needed.
- Prior experience with refinery operations.
- Knowledge and practice of safety and compliance regulations required.
