The AV/Cabling Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audiovisual and cabling systems within San Antonio and surrounding areas. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality technical support that enables effective communication and collaboration across various departments. The technician will work closely with project managers and other technical staff to design and implement cabling infrastructure that meets organizational standards and client requirements. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are paramount to guarantee system reliability and longevity. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall operational efficiency by maintaining robust AV and cabling systems that support daily business activities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as an AV technician or cabling technician with hands-on knowledge of audiovisual systems and structured cabling.
- Familiarity with installation tools: punch-down, crimping, toners, testers, drills, etc.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ANSI/TIA-568 and NEC regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites as needed.- 1+ years of experience in structured cabling and/or AV installation
- Certification in AV technology or cabling (e.g., CTS, BICSI Installer or Technician).
- Experience with network infrastructure and IP-based AV systems.
- Knowledge of safety standards and OSHA regulations related to cabling and electrical work.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with experience using diagnostic tools and software.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Install, test, and maintain audiovisual equipment and structured cabling systems including fiber optics, coaxial, and Ethernet cables.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to AV systems and cabling infrastructure promptly to minimize downtime.
- Pull cable through conduit, ceilings, walls, and raised floors while following safety codes and standards.
- Collaborate with project teams to plan and execute new installations or upgrades, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety of all AV and cabling components.
- Document all work performed, including configurations, repairs, and inventory management, to maintain accurate records for future reference.
