Position Summary
The Automation & Robotics Technician plays a vital role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing automated and CNC-enabled systems used in the modular construction environment. This technician ensures production runs smoothly through the application of technical skills, creative problem-solving, and a commitment to safety and innovation. Key Responsibilities
1. Installation & Commissioning
•Install and commission CNC routers, robotic systems, sensors, conveyors, and control panels used in modular fabrication.
•Support cross-functional teams by applying innovative approaches to new system integration.
2. Operation & Technical Support
•Operate and monitor CNC machines and robotic cells used in framing, panelization, and finishing processes.
•Troubleshoot issues collaboratively and respectfully support production personnel in real-time.
3. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
•Perform regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and diagnostics on robotics, CNC equipment, and PLC systems.
•Demonstrate total ownership of machine uptime by minimizing downtime and implementing sustainable fixes.
4. Programming & Process Optimization
•Optimize G-code and robotic routines to ensure efficient material flow and reduced waste.
•Collaborate with engineering and production teams in a synergistic effort to improve process reliability.
5. Safety & Regulatory Compliance
•Maintain compliance with all safety protocols, including OSHA standards and internal company policies.
•Uphold an honorable work ethic by promoting safety and transparency at all times.
6. Documentation & Continuous Improvement
•Accurately document maintenance activity, machine settings, and software changes.
•Drive creative and continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
•Associate degree or technical certificate in Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation, or a related field.
•2–5 years of experience in a high-volume or modular manufacturing environment with CNC systems.
Technical Skills
•Hands-on experience with:
•+ CNC routers and saws (e.g., Biesse, SCM, Haas)
+ PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
+ Robotic arms (FANUC, ABB, or similar)
+ Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems
•Ability to read and interpret technical documentation including schematics and wiring diagrams.
•Knowledge of G-code, ladder logic, and HMI/SCADA platforms.
Working Conditions
•Manufacturing plant and modular construction setting.
•Exposure to loud noise, moving equipment, and industrial materials.
•Must be able to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
