Our Measurement Team is seeking an Automation Technician to be located in Grande Prairie, AB. The primary operations consist of design, implementation, and maintenance of operations systems.
Responsibilities:
•maintain, configure and commission a variety of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
•familiarity of AER/OGC measurement requirements for RTU and SCADA
•assist with area SCADA Radio/cell architecture, design and support
•understand and perform safety responsibilities such as hazard identification and emergency response
•understand oil and gas facilities for production, compression, water disposal, liquidgas processing and artificial lift
•read and understand Piping & Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs), Shutdown Key (SDK) documentation and Input/Output (I/O) layouts, panel wiring diagrams
•understand the wiring and capabilities of process end devices (transmitters, pumps, valves, etc.)
•understand PID control and perform associated configuration (includes control element selection, loop tuning, etc.)
•ability to work with operations teams and perform approved associated MOCs
•configure Modbus communications in a variety of devices for communications and control
•understand and configure HMI integration to various RTUs, PLCs and other Control Devices
•Enterprise SCADA System Support and Troubleshooting
•communications issues/service failures/client access issues/hardware failures/operating system failures
•understand interfaces to other measurement, corporate and accounting systems (PI, FlowCal etc.)
•ensure ongoing performance improvement including job progression, site-specific training, process training
•complete corrective work orders to repair/resolve faulty equipment affecting safety or environmental systems
•demonstrate a consultative approach with members of the construction, operations and maintenance E&I staff, Technical Services (this includes internal and external Engineering support)
•quickly adapt to changing priorities and requirements
•maintain a high level of communication with all stakeholders related to projects, timelines and priorities
•ability to be available for an on-call schedule; weekends and holidays included
•some work in camp locations may be required
Qualifications:
•five or more years of industry experience
•Journeyman Electrician or Instrument Tech preferred
•maintenance experience with well sites, compression and processing desired
•strong organizational and communication skills are required
•strong team player with the ability to work independently
•proficient in use and application of PCs and PC programs including Microsoft Office Suite
•valid Class 5 Driver’s License
•Safety-sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
