Job Summary
SunPeak, a commercial solar provider based in Madison, is looking for a full-time Assistant Solar Technician to join its team.
This role works closely with the broader Operations & Maintenance team to troubleshoot and resolve issues and perform maintenance, commissioning, and quality control duties on installed SunPeak solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Ideal candidates will have technical aptitude, previous solar field work experience, and will be eager to learn from and contribute to an outstanding team.

Primary Responsibilities:
•Perform quality inspections for new and existing solar installations
•Troubleshoot issues with installed PV systems
•Perform on-site system repairs
•Perform commissioning duties for new solar installations
•Communicate with fellow team members, clients, vendors, and suppliers
•Perform pre-installation site assessments for new project locations
•Document procedures and best practices, and implement solutions for greater efficiency and quality whenever possible
•Use remote monitoring platforms to analyze customer PV system performance
Education and Professional Credentials:
•Previous solar work experience (preferred)
•Previous field electrical work experience or training (preferred)
•Associate degree (or equivalent training or work experience) in a technical field or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) pathway (preferred)
•NABCEP certified (preferred)
•OSHA30 certification (can be obtained within 6 months of hiring)
Preferred Work Experience:
•2+ years in a solar technician position
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Previous experience in solar or an electrical field.
•Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
•Use of job-specific tools: Multimeters, torque wrenches, I-V curve tracer, megger, data tester, RJ45 crimper, oscilloscope, GPS survey tool
•Understanding of facility electrical infrastructure
•Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
•Experienced with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and construction software applications
•Team-oriented mindset with strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
•Ability to propose and lead continuous improvement initiatives related to position
•Conducts duties with professionalism and exercises good faith and high integrity
•Adheres to construction and electrical safety protocols
•Drone operation experience (or interest in learning) is a plus
Physical Requirements
•Comfortable working at heights
•Comfortable with frequent ladder use
•Ability to perform outdoor work in diverse climate conditions (heat, cold, snow, etc.) as needed
•Ability to lift 50 pounds
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time position. SunPeak provides a competitive compensation package including health insurance, life/disability insurance, dental, vision, paid time off, and 401K. Additional individual and/or team bonuses may also be available based on individual merit and/or overall company success. Travel expenses are paid per diem based on local rates.
