We’re currently seeking a motivated Engineer-in-Training to join our Edmonton office and begin a rewarding career path in project engineering.
As an Assistant Project Engineer – EIT, you will support the account and engineering teams across a wide range of responsibilities including estimating, technical design, document preparation, and project coordination. While the position is primarily office-based, a portion of the first two years will involve hands-on experience through rotations with our manufacturing and field installation teams—giving you a well-rounded understanding of our operations from the ground up.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent engineering graduate or early-career engineer looking to gain diverse experience and grow within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
· Assist in the delivery of assigned customer accounts and projects by producing documentation such as cost estimates, CAD drawings, calculation sheets, testing reports and proposals.
· Support the preparation of detailed technical and commercial proposals under the guidance of the Project Engineering Manager or senior engineers.
· Participate in customer meetings to present technical findings, proposals, and reports.
· Support full-cycle project execution, including technology selection, equipment design, component procurement, quality assurance, and coordination with manufacturing.
· Contribute to field activities, including installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of systems and equipment.
· Uphold engineering best practices in accordance with internal quality standards and APEGA guidelines.
· Participate in product and process improvements, focusing on safety, efficiency, and performance.
· Assist with business development initiatives, including client engagement and strategic planning.
· Work as an active member of both office and field teams, building cross-functional knowledge and skills
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred (other disciplines considered with relevant experience).
· Eligible for registration with APEGA as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
· Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting with customers and vendors.
· Service-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to solving technical and logistical challenges.
· Exposure to the oil and gas industry, particularly thermal oilwell or SAGD operations, is a strong asset.
· Understanding of interdisciplinary engineering concepts (mechanical, electrical, petroleum, etc.).
· Proficiency in CAD design; familiarity with PLC languages, Python, JavaScript, or Java is a plus.
· Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines in a team-oriented environment.
