This position will be located at our Administrative Office in Concord, CA. The Assistant/Associate Engineer will be responsible for implementing projects and initiatives from CCWD’s capital improvement program, which may include treated water distribution pipeline replacements; improvements to treated and untreated water systems and water treatment plants; and Los Vaqueros Watershed facilities. The "Project Employee Position" is full-time and temporary with benefits. The position is anticipated to last for a term of 2 to 5 years and possibly longer. Project employees are hired for specific projects of limited duration. Individuals selected for project positions are entitled to all terms and conditions of employment as specified in the IFPTE, Local 21 MOU Section 22. What you will typically be responsible for: Serving as an integral member of the Engineering Department, contributing to improvements across the treated and untreated water storage systems, water treatment plants, dams, and other critical facilities.Building and maintaining positive, collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.Managing assigned projects, ensuring critical tasks and priorities are identified and addressed to keep projects on track.Assessing and managing risks related to project scope, schedule, and budget to ensure successful project outcomes.Acting as a technical resource, providing expertise and guidance across various CCWD initiatives.Administering consultant contracts, coordinating efforts between consultants and project stakeholders to ensure timely and effective project delivery. PHYSICAL DEMANDS When working in an office environment, must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone; ability to stand and walk between work areas is required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. When working in the field, must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform light physical work; to sit, stand, and walk on level, uneven, or slippery surfaces; reach, twist, turn, kneel, bend, stoop, squat, and crouch in conducting inspections; to operate a motor vehicle and visit various District and meeting sites; and vision to conduct inspections. The job involves fieldwork requiring frequent walking in operational areas. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds. ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees also work in the field and are exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, hazardous physical substances and fumes, dust, and air contaminants.
