Wingard & Co., Inc. is seeking an experienced and proactive Assistant Controller to support the financial leadership of our growing manufacturing organization. This role will assist the CFO in overseeing all aspects of financial management, including accounting operations, internal controls, financial reporting, and compliance. The Assistant Controller will provide supervision to accounting staff, coordinate month-end and year-end close processes, and play a key role in process improvement, system integration, and strategic financial analysis to support business growth.
- Financial Oversight: Manage daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.
- Month-End & Year-End Close: Lead and coordinate the close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, and operational metrics for senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and monitor accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Partner with CFO to lead the annual budgeting process and prepare financial forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
- Fixed Asset & Inventory Management: Oversee capitalization, depreciation, and disposal of assets; ensure proper accounting for manufacturing inventory and cost of goods sold.
- ERP & Process Improvement: Leverage ERP systems (JobBOSS experience a plus) to streamline workflows, improve accuracy, and enhance reporting capabilities.
- Audit & Compliance: Assist with external audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance.
- Leadership & Development: Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and internal controls.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; JobBOSS experience preferred.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior management, cross-functional teams, and external partners.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel – advanced, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA designation preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or Assistant Controller capacity.- Manufacturing accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
