Minimum Requirements
•Minimum of 5 years' experience in shop and maintenance related field.
•Extensive heavy duty diesel mechanic experience with knowledge of construction equipment and trucks.
•Must have a current, valid driver’s license and maintain acceptable driving record.
•Computer literacy using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
•Strong supervisory skills
Preferred Requirments
•Experience using JDE, BI, Cat Vision Link
•Prior experience as a heavy equipment mechanic
•Prior experience as a shop supervisor for a construction materials-based business
•Knowledge of OEM maintenance and parts software
•Prior experience in Marine Construction equipment
•Knowledge of electrical power systems (generators, elect motors, drives, etc.)
Duties & Responsibilities
•Provide equipment repair management support to Knife River subsidiary “Connolly Pacific Co.” operations to maximize utilization and reduce cost.
•Coordinates activities of all shop personnel engaged in repair and service of equipment to efficiently manage workload.
•Develop Safety awareness programs for shop/field mechanics; conduct scheduled safety meetings.
•Review requests for repair and deficiencies prioritize by urgency and implement a course of action using internal / external resources.
•Assure regulatory compliance of fleet and facilities.
•Assist Regional Equipment Management in determining condition and operational life of assets.
•Develop and maintain an asset condition report with machine hours, component hours, required repairs and corresponding repair hours.
•Participate in the review of any accident or near miss involving shop personnel. Be prepared to report to Regional President, Regional Asset Manager and Operations Manager on incident and suggestions for preventative actions.
•Coordinate and manage replacement of diesel engines to meet or exceed required CARB standards.
•Work with Operations to schedule major repairs, dry docks and PMs.
•Oversee the practices of housekeeping in shop and yard areas for effect, safety and compliance with governmental agencies.
•Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors. Improve safety culture to world class.
•Motivates shop personnel to complete tasks in a timely manner and frequently evaluates procedure to increase efficiency.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
