Asphalt Plant Foreman

JOB DESCRIPTION:

CSA Materials, Inc. provides aggregate and asphalt construction materials for Texas’ infrastructure and building needs. CSA is headquartered in San Angelo with locations across West Texas.

The Asphalt Plant Foreman is responsible for the successful operation of the asphalt plant to produce hot mix asphalt and other mix designs used in the construction and maintenance of roadways. In this position, you will oversee crews on site, manage schedules and production, ensure safe execution of the work, and deliver quality material within specifications. The Asphalt Plant Foreman works closely with the Asphalt Operations Manager to ensure optimal production while championing the CSA values and driving employee engagement. This position requires a thorough understanding of the asphalt manufacturing process, aggregate stockpiling, plant repairs, team management, product quality and maintenance.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

· Manage and direct work assignments of crew

· Provide leadership, coaching, and training to manage a high performing team

· Accurate and timely data entry and review in timekeeping system

· Assist in daily preventive maintenance and plant repairs,

· Manage aggregate and asphalt inventory, ordering materials and record keeping

· Maintain equipment maintenance, repair and readiness of the local equipment fleet

· Resolve any issues with progress of production to include local scheduling

· Oversee daily field activities leading to optimal production

· Work closely and collaborate with Asphalt Operations Manager, Quality Control and Testing, Safety Department, vendors, and customers

· Report and remediate needed repairs and safety issues

· Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedule

· Adhere to administrative deadlines such as expense approvals, time sheet approvals, employee appraisals, etc.

· Ensure a culture of excellence in customer service and quality

· Update technical skills or obtain certifications as required

· Adhere to OSHA/MSHA safety rules and company policies and procedures

· Represent the CSA values at all times and drive employee engagement

· Perform related duties as required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

· Ability to identify problems and evaluate solutions or alternate approaches

· Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and welding abilities

· Understanding of hotmix designs and aggregate gradations

· Verbal and written communication skills

· Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

· Ability to work together as a team

· Organizational skills and attention to detail

· Time management skills with a proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

· Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

· Must be safety oriented

· Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, email, and related software

QUALIFICATIONS:

· At least two years of experience in asphalt plant production and/or operations

· At least one year of supervisory experience

· Must be familiar with automated plant controls

· Flexible schedule required, including early start times, Saturdays, and some night work

· Ability to travel as needed

· Valid driver’s license

· Spanish speaking is a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS:

· Ability to work in extreme outdoor weather

· Exposure to water, mud, dust, and loud noise

· Work at heights of up to 100 feet

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to perform the following:

- Works at heights of up to 100 feet

- Lift up to 50 pounds

- Stand, sit, and climb for extended periods of time

- Walk and climb on uneven surfaces

- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

- Stoop, kneel, reach, stand, grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, bend or move objects

Base Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
